United Supermarkets Adds More Functionality to Web Site

Regional independent United Supermarkets, which in June upgraded its online presence with user-friendly features to complement users’ in-store shopping experience, has now added more enhancements, including streamlined prescription refills, interactive weekly circulars by store location, online catering orders, gift card purchases, floral orders, video cooking tutorials and in-store promotions.

The Lubbock, Texas-based chain will employ a suite of online tools from MyWebGrocer and ePharmacy and will continue to roll out innovative features as the site progresses.

“At United, we want to make our guests’ online experience just as enjoyable as their in-store experience,” said Randy Crimmins, VP, marketing at United. “With our enhanced Web features like an interactive weekly circular, online prescription refills and gift card purchasing, as well as updates to Facebook and Twitter, we’re going beyond our store aisles and reaching out to our guests with a new medium that brings added convenience and new ways to save. We’ve seen a great response from our guests and they seem to really enjoy taking advantage of all these new capabilities, and that’s a trend we’d like to continue.”

One of the more popular features in United’s upgraded site is the interactive weekly circular that gives guests a friendlier approach to keeping track of specialty items, whole-health/gourmet products and produce. One-click shopping lists allow users add items from the circular or any number of United’s recipes onto a unique shopping list and print it for their next shopping trip.

Additionally, United’s enhanced online pharmacy gives users the ability to refill prescriptions 24 hours a day.

With the online catering feature, users can customize and order cakes and pastries, as well as party platters and full-course meals from the delicatessen, seafood and meat departments, for pickup at a store.

United operates 50 stores under the banners of United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United.
