Wal-Mart Commits $500K to Flood Relief Efforts

Responding to the flash-floods that have swept through the Midwestern region of the United States, Wal-Mart yesterday made a $500,000 commitment to assist with relief efforts.

The retailer's commitment includes a combination of both cash and merchandise donations and will provide support to those affected throughout Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Longtime Wal-Mart partners in the area of disaster response, the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, will each receive a portion of the commitment. Wal-Mart is working with both organizations to provide food, water, and other life-sustaining products to all who have been affected by the floods.
