Wal-Mart Donates $100K to Red Cross Disaster Relief for Haiti

entonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said it has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to help with disaster relief for Haiti, which was hit hard by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike both hit the island nation in August and September.

"Because we touch communities throughout the Americas, we can help people in times of need in so many ways," said Craig Herkert, president and ceo of the Americas for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

In addition to the corporate donation, Wal-Mart Puerto Rico donated $7,000 to the Red Cross and $3,000 to the Caribbean Haitian Committee for hurricane victims. Several Wal-Mart stores in Florida held supply drives last week to collect relief supplies for hurricane victims.
