Wegmans Brand Sorbet Items Recalled on Allergen Alert

The manufacturer of Wegmans Sorbet said it was recalling a number of 16-oz. sorbets because they might contain undeclared milk.

The products were distributed throughout Wegmans Food Markets located in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland. The sorbets are packaged in 16 oz. paperboard containers and sold in the supermarkets' ice cream section. The manufacturer is Perry's Ice Cream.

All four sorbet flavors: Lemon, Raspberry, Green Apple, and Pink Grapefruit, are affected by this recall, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

A review of records discovered that product containing milk was packaged in cartons that were not labeled for the presence of milk, the government agency said. Subsequent investigation indicated cross contamination was caused by a breakdown in the company's production process.
