Wegmans Joins E-ZPass 'On-the-Go' Sales Program

ROCHESTER, N.Y.-- Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. here has been given the green light by the New York State Thruway Authority in Albany as an off-Thruway retailer to distribute E-ZPass tags through its new E-ZPass 'On-the-Go' program.

"The ability to purchase E-ZPass in our stores is one more element of one-stop-shopping convenience for our customers," said Wegmans director of media relations Jo Natale.

"Through the On-the-Go program, Thruway customers can purchase an E-ZPass tag at off-Thruway retail locations, such as Wegmans, and begin using it instantly and benefit from its convenience and time savings," explained Thruway Authority executive director Michael R. Fleischer. "In addition to the discount E-ZPass offers over cash, and the continued improvements being implemented Thruway-wide, further expanding the availability of On-the-Go makes getting E-ZPass more attractive than ever."

Under the program, all 49 Wegmans stores in New York state will sell E-ZPass On-the-Go tags to consumers, with the customer getting the full $25 credit of the purchase price of the tag on his or her account.

E-ZPass provides A 10 percent discount all Thruway tolls for passenger vehicles. The tags are not currently available for commercial vehicles, and customers can also sign up for a number of commuter discount plans, about which more information is available at www.e-zpassny.com.

Twenty-two transportation agencies in 11 states use E-ZPass.

Wegmans operates 70 stores New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland.
