    Wegmans Names Nutritionist for Buffalo-Area Stores

    Allison Parker was a consulting and contributing writer for the grocer before signing on for a full-time position.

    Wegmans Food Market, Inc., has named Allison Parker, M.S., R.D., the nutritionist for its 13 stores in western New York and Erie, Pa.

    "Allison's depth of knowledge and passion for health and wellness make her a wonderful addition to our Wegmans team," said consumer affairs manager Ann McCarthy. "As our employees and customers learn more about the benefits that our 'eat well, live well' message brings to their lives, Allison's expertise will be invaluable."

    Parker holds a master's degree in nutrition communications from Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. She completed an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Food Science and also served a dietetic internship at Cornell University. She is a member of the American Dietetics Association (ADA), the New York State Dietetic Association and the WNY Dietetic Association.

    Parker worked as a consulting and contributing writer for Wegmans before joining the company full-time. She maintains a food Web site, www.therecipebook.com, and was awarded a fellowship by the ADA for her master's degree.
