Wegmans shoppers in search of a convenient meal option are being told to go bowling -- that is, to pick up a pasta bowl at the Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer's Market Cafe prepared food section.
To further encourage customers to go for the bowls, Wegmans offered via its Fresh News e-mails a coupon for $2 off any packaged Pasta Bowl. The coupons, which have a one-per-customer limit, are valid through July 12.
Made with such ingredients as Italian tomatoes, fresh basil, real cheese, and braised meats, the heat-and-serve items come in the following varieties: Three Cheese Ravioli with Baby Spinach and Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce (380 calories per eight-ounce serving, half-cup of vegetables); Six-Cheese Tortellini with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto (600 calories per eight-ounce serving, half-cup of vegetables); Bowtie Pasta with Vodka Blush Sauce and Chicken (330 calories per eight-ounce serving, one cup of vegetables), and Whole Wheat Penne Pasta with Roasted Vegetables and Garlic Oil (400 calories per eight-ounce serving, 1.5-cup cup of vegetables).
All of the pasta bowls cost $6.99 per pound, the chain said.
