    Wegmans Polls Shoppers on Fresh Meal-buying Habits

    The grocer probed for the challenges behind consumers' meal shopping and purchasing decisions with an online survey.

    As part of a periodic series of consumer surveys, Wegmans Food Markets polled shoppers via email on their habits when it comes to purchasing prepared foods.

    After determining whether survey participants consider Wegmans their primary store, the grocer asked a series of question including that explored what challenges customers face in getting meals on the table; what types of meals they serve (takeout, restaurant, scratch, meals with some partly prepared foods, fully prepared meals); how often they buy or serve those various types of meals; and how Wegmans specifically has helped respondents address their particular meal challenges.

    Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans said the responses will help it to better tailor its meal offerings to shoppers.
