Weis Begins New Price Freeze

Weis Markets has launched its 11th round of price freezes, effective in all 164 stores, on more than 1,300 products. Newly reduced prices will remain at discounted levels for 90 days.

Since the grocer began its price freeze initiative in January 2009, Weis customers have saved more than $45 million, the company reported. The current program runs through Oct. 12.

“Our Prize Freeze program has generated consistent savings for our customers since 2009,” said Kurt Schertle, Weis Markets’ EVP for sales and merchandising. “It is an extremely effective program that helps our customers lock in long-term savings at a time when they are looking for consistently strong values.”

Weis Markets’ current Price Freeze program includes name brand and private brand products in grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, health, beauty care and general merchandise. Customers can identify Price Freeze items through store signage and shelf tags for participating items, as well as in weekly circulars.

Founded in 1912, Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets Inc. operates in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
