    Weis Markets Names New Meat/Seafood, Pricing Execs

    The regional retailer has made two more executive appointments to its management staff.

    Weis Markets has made two more executive appointments to its management team, with the arrival of John Grimes, who recently joined the company as its new director of meat and seafood, and Michelle Dorin, who was promoted to director of pricing.

    In his new post, Grimes, whose most recent position was as a senior level meat merchandiser for Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper, will oversee the Sunbury, Pa.-based regional retailer's full scope of meat and seafood merchandising and procurement. Beginning his career as part-time grocery clerk in high school, Grimes previously worked as a meatcutter and meat manager, as well as in a number of senior-level meat and perishable merchandising positions.

    In her new capacity, Dorin will oversee day-to-day pricing for grocery, dairy, frozen and HBC/GM. She began her Weis Markets career in 1987 as a buyer trainee, and has worked as a buyer and category manager, as well as having oversight of specialty foods.

    Weis Markets operates 154 stores in five states: Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
