Weis Markets has hired Gretchen Suydan as director of marketing, and has promoted Brian Bosworth to sales director and Maria Panko to private brands manager.
Suydan (pictured left) comes to Weis Markets from Supervalu’s Farm Fresh division, which she served as director of marketing and advertising. As Weis’ marketing director, she is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of go-to-market strategies designed to grow sales, increase new customer acquisition and drive customer retention. Suydan reports to Brian Holt, VP of advertising, marketing and public relations.
Panko (pictured right) will oversee the product development and sales and marketing for the company’s 6,300-plus private brand products, including center store, HBC and fresh. She previously worked as a center store category manager and before that with Daymon Worldwide, where she worked on the company’s private brand account.
Bosworth (pictured left) was a category manager; as sales manager, he will take on an expanded role to help develop and implement center store sales building programs and initiatives. Panko and Bosworth report to Kevin Broe, VP of center store sales and merchandising.
Founded in 1912, Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets Inc. operates 165 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
