Wine importer and Twitter to Hold Online Wine Tasting

Wine importer Wilson Daniels, Ltd. and Twitter Taste Live, a forum for real-time wine tasting via the Web, plan to host an online wine tasting on the 10th anniversary of "Open That Bottle Night" (OTBN) on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. EST.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to visit www.twittertastelive.com to RSVP for the interactive wine-tasting event.

OTBN, conceived in 2000 by wine writers Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher of The Wall Street Journal, encourages wine enthusiasts worldwide to open and share a special bottle of wine. Due to its popularity, OTBN became an annual celebration held in homes and restaurants nationwide on the last Saturday of February. The concept has since taken on a life of its own, with OTBN devotees creating their own Web site, www.openthatbottlenight.com, where consumers can post pictures and stories from their OTBN parties.

Social networking site Twitter Taste Live (TTL) has added yet another twist to the OTBN theme to mark the 10th anniversary: exploration and discovery. Consumers will have the opportunity to open bottles of lesser-known wines from tiny producers in four regions in Europe -- and share their impressions via OTBN's global, online forum. A live video stream at www.twittertastelive.com/ will allow OTBN participants to follow bloggers and event hosts through the tasting and ask questions through its real-time Twitter feed.

TTL is a groundbreaking tasting format that employs popular social networking tool Twitter to connect consumers who share the same passion. TTL began as a series of online wine tastings bringing the world's top winemakers, importers and bloggers directly to consumers all over the world.
