Winn-Dixie Foundation Donates Over $1 Million to 39 Charities
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie said yesterday that the Winn-Dixie Foundation has presented donations totaling $1,050,000 to 39 non-profit community organizations throughout the Southeast in the past week.
The $25,000 donations were made at events during a five-stop "Better Holidays...Better Communities" tour of the grocer's operating area. In addition to the cash donations, Winn-Dixie Stores donated $75,000 worth of food filling several truckloads to regional food banks in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Jacksonville.
The Western Union Foundation matched four of the Winn-Dixie Foundation's contributions to area food banks. The company presented matching $25,000 checks to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Second Harvest of Tampa Bay, and the Citrus Community Food Bank.
