Winn-Dixie Stores Expands Data Warehouse

Winn-Dixie Stores expanded its data warehouse capacity to satisfy increasing analytic demand from its corporate and retail user base.

The Southeast regional grocery chain is using the Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platform from Miamisburg, Ohio-based Teradata. The platform is a multi-terabyte system that supports category management, customer analysis, and campaign management in support of the chain’s merchandising and marketing initiatives. Winn-Dixie runs Teradata Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software on the data warehouse.

“Teradata has been a significant partner to Winn-Dixie over recent years, and we have found their expertise, as well as their data warehouse, to be of considerable business value,” said Maura Hart, senior director, information technology, for Winn Dixie. “We look forward to increasing our enterprise-class intelligence to enable timely, fact-based decisions.”

Winn-Dixie expects the expanded capacity to support the growing requirements for critical analysis and reporting across the company’s merchandising, supply chain and marketing departments. As it expands the breadth and reach of its database user community, Winn-Dixie is planning to add additional subject matter areas to its EDW.

Winn-Dixie Stores is headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., and operates 520 stores throughout Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia and Mississippi.
