    WMMB Adds New Retail Program Director

    Cheese vet Peter Buol brings Hispanic cheese expertise to promotional board.

    Peter J. Buol, a veteran cheese sales professional, has joined Madison, Wis.-based Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board (WMMB) as director of retail programs. Most recently, he was national sales manager of private label for Monroe, Wis.-based Wisconsin Cheese Group.

    In his new post at WMMB, Buol will lead promotional programming for supermarket chains and grocery stores as well as direct the marketing managers placed strategically across the United States.

    Among Buol's duties at Wisconsin Cheese Group was the development of sales for both Hispanic and domestic cheeses. Previously, he was a national account director for Monroe-based Mexican Cheese Producers, where his responsibilities included sales for both the retail and foodservice channels. He began his career in the beverage industry and subsequently worked for Pick 'n Save Supermarkets.

    "The addition of Peter to our management team not only adds real sales leadership depth, but hands-on expertise in Hispanic cheese marketing," said Stan Woodworth, WMMB's s.v.p., channel management.

    Hispanic cheese varieties comprise one of the fastest growing cheese segments in the nation, and Hispanic cheese production in Wisconsin has more than tripled since 1996 to more than 47 million pounds annually.
